Union Jack

So, I got asked to help make cupcakes for an event at my school, this meant 60 cupcakes and stupid amounts of ingredients. It was also my first outing with my new icing bag, and I have to say it started off as a bit of a disaster. There was icing all over my kitchen, me and I think I may have got some on my cats...
But once I got the hang of it, they came out quite pretty. The icing was purple but the colour doesn't come out so well in the picture. As you can see some of these are neater than others, but one person asked if they were done by a professional company (oh yer!) so not to dodgy The little sugar disks were from a place called the craft company.

Also found this website that sells the most amazing baking things- great for any themed party's or if you just want to make them more fun.

I have found out that I am wheat intolerant so if I can find any good recipes I will put them up.

Halloween

So Halloween has come and gone, and I made a cake. A three layer red velvet cake (hummingbird recipe) with black and red icing, colour theme. Teeth and bones a jelly worms for Halloween, it didn't get eaten till the next morning for breakfast, but I always think that cakes taste even the better the next day, and what can beat cake for breakfast.

Birthday Cake

Me and my mate Tilda made this for our friend Hana's birthday. The recipe was from the red velvet cake recipe in the Humming Bird Bakery book, but we didn't use Red Colouring we used blue, and of course if you mix blue colouring with brown cocoa powder it goes brown (the mixture went grey first) But oh well. Also a little tip, if you cant find buttermilk (which we couldn't) if you put a squeeze of lemon in the milk all will be well. The icing is cream cheese frosting (the best) with a whole thing of red food colouring in it. It is three layers with the red in between. Decorations are sweets and we went down a more gothicy route...
Quick Tip- If it is hot outside (which it is- 29C in October???) and you don't want icing sugar everywhere do it in the garden.

A bit of a change...

I have decided to split my blog into two, a fashion blog and a cooking blog, so as the title would suggest this is my cooking one. For people who did not see the previous blog and are coming across this anew- Hi! I am Zoë age 17 (for now) and I like to bake, its something I do when I am stressed out so seeing as my exams are coming up, this will probably result in allot of posts (if I remember to take pictures- which I don't always) Enjoy.
